Hate reading? Check out my vlog:
Our society holds an unknown amount of harmful health beliefs. Everyone from your Aunt Helen to your doctor to online fitness bros/health coaches/influencers bombard you with constant nonsense.

Unfortunately, we believe them. And even more unfortunately, once believed, we’ll argue with educated health professionals who try to tell us otherwise. This is a totally common and normal way the brain responds to something that conflicts with our beliefs.
Are you shaking your head thinking you’ve somehow escaped the nonsense?

Let me test you! Do you believe:
That everyone should aim for taking 10,000 steps a day even though it was completely made up by a Japanese marketing company?
You should, “drink eight glasses of water per day” when no one knows where that statement actually came from and there’s no research to support it?
You should be drinking nonfat/lowfat milk even though research shows that whole fat dairy may be healthier for you, help you maintain a healthy weight, AND support your vitamin D status better?
I bet people started shaking their heads on that last one…

Why changing your beliefs matter
Nothing affects your life more than your beliefs. This is especially important when it comes to beliefs regarding your health.
The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen.
Frank Loyd Wright
Incorrect beliefs can prevent you from reaching your health goals and/or cause you to harm yourself and others. They can make you blame and hate yourself, unjustly judge strangers, and make you feel like a failure.
You could be wasting your time at best, and doing serious damage at worst.
Sadly, you can’t turn in your body for a new model after you’ve damaged it beyond repair.
It’s time to change friends.
What this series is all about
I picked four beliefs that are the most frequently repeated, the most false, and will give you the “biggest bang for your buck” if you only change one of them.
There are waaaaay more myths and nonsense beliefs than the four I picked, but if you stick with me I might eventually cover most of them. Definitely let me know in the comment section which ones you’d like me to tackle!
I’m planning to release a new post weekly or bi-weekly for this series, so stay tuned!

There is one diet that is healthy for everyone.
A calorie is a calorie.
What you will gain from this series
You will learn where these beliefs came from, if research supports them, why they are harmful, and what you can do to change them. And then, you will be freeeeee!
Have you ever had one of those moments where someone said the most obvious thing to you, and suddenly everything just, clicked? And once that click happened, you permanently changed your habits and thoughts?

I have. One random day I read that every, stinking, little thing I put in my mouth becomes a part of me. I realized that food additives, preservatives, sugar, and corn (I was eating a LOT of packaged pastas, candy, and chips back then) made up the majority of my cells.
Just like that, POOF.
I changed my life and eating habits forever that day.
I want to help YOU, my dear and wonderful readers, experience those wonderful “light bulb” moments as well.
So polish up your reading glasses and buckle in, because once you change your beliefs, you will change your life.
It is unsettling to think that my cells are made up of HEB Intense Cheese Flavored Puffs…
